Oh no Dolly Dyson has just  blown uo :eek:she just couldn,t cope anymore with the mountains of hair she,s had suck up lately
Any recomendations gratefully accepted.
Our house looks like a sheep shearing shed at the moment with both girls casting their coats at once.
If I don,t get something quick we,ll all disapear under Shepherd hair :eek:please help.
Its a good job we are not the posh type only the little grey man doesn,t cope with it as wel as I can and is doing a bit of moaning LOL.

I'm afraid I would just have to go out and buy another dyson - I can't cope with the hair shed by one small border terrier and I hoover up loads of hair and muck every day.  My mum used to use a stiff hand brush to get hairs out the carpet but very time consuming I'm afraid.

Dyson do offer a repair service and for something like £75 they'll come to your home and rebuild your machine there and then with ANY replacement part it needs.  When my motor went I got a cable, motor, sole plate, etc and ended up with a shiny bright machine all re-done by a very pleasant helpful young lady who did more than her fair share of testing it out on my hairy carpet before she left!

well it just says it all about Dyson!!!!  Had one but sent it back after 6 months as it was useless!
I have a Vorwerk now and it is fantastic, very light, allergy friendly and converts into a cylinder vac when doing the stairs
I would go out and get a Vorwerk they are much better!

My Dyson's been going 3 years, and my Mum bought one of the first models in 1993, which still works perfectly ... ;)

Whatever you get I'd recommend taking out the insurance though it seems expensive at the time. I have a Dyson which is about 10years old now and it's practically been rebuilt! I now renew the insurance yearly for about £25 and if it's just the hose that has split, or one of the tools has a problem I just ring up and they send the part straight away. Also had a new motor which a nice man came out to replace!
Before the Dyson I had a Meile and that was v.good too but fancied a change

Insurances just aren't worth the money :) Add up all the insurance premiums on all the appliances that you have bought in the last 5 years - I doubt whether the average person has had to pay out on repairs more than the total :) I've had one Dyson for 10 years and the other for 4 - neither has ever gone wrong. I've saved £350 :)

I have had my animal dyson for 5 years its great!

We've had a two Dysons for three years now with no problems, or at least I haven't seen my wife have any problems with them, must ask her why she's got two some time, maybe it's so she can get the vacuuming done twice as quickily

I just invested in a new dyson after my old dyson gave up the ghost it now comes with a 5 year guarentee free and its brilliant plenty of puppy fur and cat hairs to deal with no problem what so ever
- By Sullysmum Date 15.03.07 21:34 UTC
I just saw about the free 5 year guarentee....our guarentee cost us £55 5 years ago and have never used it.

We've had our animal dyson for about four years (I think) and it cuts out constantly.  You can manage to do one room, maybe a little more, before it cuts out and then you need to leave it a while till it comes back on.  It's very annoying, but we just always seem to have other things to spend our money on than a new hoover.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 16.03.07 09:42 UTC
Ours did this a couple of times - because the brush had too much hair (human!) and threads wrapped around it. After we removed that it worked fine again. :)

We keep doing this, also removing the side filter and washing it out, but it still keeps happening.

We have had three Dysons in 8 years and the last one gave up about three months agao. We went out had a look at what was on offer and we decided to get a Vax Ultrix Pet and so far we are very impressed with it.

I didn't realise my stairs carpet was beige onstead of chocolate colour  :D :D

I have a Electrolux 2000 and over heats and cuts out at the drop of a hat - and because of this I can onlt get one room thoroughly done at a time.

I think my next one will be a 'George'. We hired one recently to do the carpets/upholstry ready for spring and the stuff it got up (*heave*) was incredible. I didn't know if I was happy with the performance, or mortified with what was coming off.
- By pavlova [gb] Date 16.03.07 15:56 UTC
Been busy searching through argos site and I,ve narrowed it down between a vax bagless  and an electrolux bagless  both pet type:rolleyes:so far but not finished yet.
Don,t really want another dyson we,ve had three over the last ten years or so so thinking of trying soimething else this time.I,m using an olo old hoover at the moment until I go out and buy something this weekend.
Thanks everyone.

I would definitley have another Animal Dyson, but before that we had a Miele which was also brilliant, so if you want a change a Miele would be a good option!
- By Nu77y [gb] Date 16.03.07 22:07 UTC
Wouldnt get the Vax bagless, it only lasted 6mths before it keeled over, and thats with ony two dogs
- By LJS Date 12.09.07 13:59 UTC
Well after 6 months the hose has buckled and the filter gets really clooged up after only a few hoovers :rolleyes:

I have just phoned Vax to see if they can send a replacement hose and they have said that they have never made replacements parts for it and need to take it back to Curry's to get it replaced but can we find the receipt :rolleyes:

I have being trying to persuade Mike to get a new one as the honeymoon period is over with me and agree they are useless  Think I will just have to go out and buy a new one and say that I found it on the dorr step with a note round it saying please give me a new home :D :D

Just the kind of thing I use my Nectar points for. :) I have about £120 to spend just for shopping. Think the next purchase will be a big mixer (after making the BF gateaux I decided on that one!) I bought my Dyson with Nectar points. I like freebies. :-D
- By Moonmaiden Date 12.09.07 14:04 UTC
Curry's will be able to trace your purchase on their computer so it's worth going back to them
- By LJS Date 12.09.07 14:07 UTC
I have just tried Curry's long winded lets go through twenty questions helpdesk number and got put through to Vax customer services after about tens minutes :rolleyes:
- By Moonmaiden Date 12.09.07 15:39 UTC
If you go to the store they will trace it or did you buy it online ?
- By LJS Date 12.09.07 15:43 UTC
Thaks MM finally got through and they have traced the receipt number for me so will be getting a new Vax at the weekend :D
