I have read that chicken wings are of considerable benefit in the BAFR diet. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced mincer, or would it be possible using a food processor. I have seen a Molyneux mincer for about £70, but the teenage assistant and his elder colleagues were unable to state if it would be up to the task.
Thanks
Jim

Hello Jim,
If you are considering following the BARF diet, then chicken wings are fed whole and more importantly uncooked. They are not mashed up in a Processor. (I may have misunderstood you, and you did not mean this at all)!
Vegetables should always be mushed - I use a Juicer, and then add the juice to the mulched veg.
An excellent book, very easily explained and immensely interesting to read is 'Give Your Dog A Bone' by Dr. Ian Billinghurst.
All the best,
Denise.
Hi Jim
Domestic mincers will not do many bones before they give up the ghost. Check out the
Northern Tools meat mincers - I have one I have minced complete (but chopped up) chickens in, don't know how long this will last, and also use it for mincing meat to go in with the vegetables.

Hi Denise
Chicken wings should be fed raw and whole - I agree, but if someone was really worried about the bones then I would advise them to mince them. I don't think it matters that much. I'd just tell them that they should give a large marrowbone to chew for the same effect that wouldn't be swallowed.

Hi there,
I feed my boxer pup raw chicken wings every supper time. We chop them up into 2 or 3 pieces till she's a bit bigger. The rest of the time she has Eukanuba dry puppy food, scrambled eggs in the morning, etc.
A find a variety of REAL food with a high quality complete food is good for us.
Best of luck,
Megbel
