Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Best Puppy Question

Hi All,
My other half has just posed me a question and I have no clue as to an answer. If an open show schedules a best puppy in show but only has Junior classes scheduled how is the best puppy in breed decided? ie If a six month pup is only beaten in junior by a 17 month old does the 6 month old win best puppy?.
Thanks in advance.

The BPIS is chosen from all the unbeaten puppies at the show-that is all puppies who have not been beaten by another puppy, soif the puppy is only in one class & comes 2nd in Junior behind a dog over 12 months would qualify for challenging for best puppy

Thanks, I thought this would be the case.
Thanks again
