Ok, I don't know who it was but one of you guys told us about the free router aol send out for broadband, so I phoned, got my price reduced and they sent me the Netgear router.  So far so good.

Well, the router's connected to the computer, the cd's been worked thru, but I cannot go wireless, and yes I do have the wirelsss wotsit for the laptop and the computer.  Both show a strong (green) signal but neither can connect to the internet   all lights on the router are working, and on the wireless wotsits.
Can't access the wotsit configuration prgramme on the laptop or pc :(   I'm using the router by cable to get on the net at the mo.   No access to configuration on the aol cd either -it's a piece of cr*p!

Been on every site I can find, searched the web and netgear and aol - to no avail :( :(

Been at this 2 days now and getting really fed up :( :(  Sis has the same problem and spoke to aol, complete waste of time :(

Anyone out there have any ideas?  I'm not stupid but this lark has me floored, there's no info to work from :( :(

Sorry this is so long :( :(

You've probably done this already but just checking that you have run the 'Set up a Wireless Network Wizard.'in the control panel.

Hi Dill

I have AOL wireless set up.  The only problem I had was that I was trying to run the router lead from the broadband extension cable.  I had to take it back to the main telephone point. (Took me a day and a half to work it out) If you are running off an extension it may be worth looking at that as mine was showing green but would not connect.

I have 3 lights on the router showing, the left circle the middle pointy thing and the the one to the left of no.1.

I followed the AOL disc that came with it and it all connected fine after I sorted out the cable.

Have you had a look in your start menu and 'connect to' - 'wireless network' and checked that all looks alright, there is a repair button on the second tab, my husband had a bit of a problem with connecting his laptop and used that.

No idea's, sorry, but they offered us a wireless router today after we phoned up for our Mac number to change servers.
We said no, because of all the problems we've heard about.
Moving to Tiscali broadband:rolleyes:

Yes I have done the wireless network set up, but nothing doing :(

I also am not using any extensions :(

right out of ideas now :(

The router's working (I'm using it now) but only thru a cable :(   and the laptop reports a connection to my computer but can't get on the net with it :(

Really fed up now :( :(

Dill

If the AOL disc set up correctly and you have the lights that I mentioned above on your router, the wireless must be set up.  It sounds like it is your computer not picking it up, might be worth contacting your computers helpline.

I know you said you didn't have much luck with the AOL helpline.  I have had good and bad experiences with them, last time I used them they were excellent, I think it depends on which advisor your get, might be worth another try.   Have a look here first if you haven't already done so http://help.aol.co.uk/setting-up-a-wireless-network/article/20060804084209990001
Just a thought. Have you entered the very long security code, it is about 25 digits/letters, if so, are you sure you entered them correctly.
