Our trainee nurses start at about £6.00 to £6.50 an hour,it is now law that ant trainee must sit the dental nurses national exam, and as from 2008, you must be registered, which I think is about £80. per year(not very sure,I would have to look that up.
I think trained nurses get about£7-8 per hour.It does very much depend on what practice you are in though and also area.If you work in a specialist practice you tend to get more as your skills are very varied.
I work in an implant practice which I love,if you are serious about training you can also apply to the hospitals as they offer a full time course and you get to see so much more,I didn't do this but did work at a hospital for a while and saw and learn't so much, also having worked in a hospital, when you put that on your C.V it counts for a lot.
There is an official guidline for nurses wages, you could probably find out from the British dental association,BUT we never take it seriously as it is too low!
I hope this helps,
Ash
