Hi all.
Just a quickie. Freya has had mucky eyes the past few days and today we're noticed that they look a little red. I have been cleaning the muck away but is there anything i can do/use to help. Ultimately I will take her to the vets but won't be able to get there until wednesday. Helpful suggestions gratefully recieved.

Tara used to get this sometimes after swimming in the stream :) I just used clean, cooled, boiled water and cotton wool to clean them. Never use the same bit of cotton wool more than once and always wipe from the inner corner to the outer :) I'd never use anything else that wasn't prescribed by the vet :)

hiya - one of our dogs henry has always had mucky eyes and one thing that i was advised to bathe them in has always worked wonders, make a cup of tea - no milk or sugar just the water and a tea bag, let it cool and bathe the eye with it soaked onto a cotton wool ball. I know it sound odd, but as i say it worked wonders for us.

I've always used tea bags on my dogs eyes too. My Grandad recommended it years ago, he'd used them on all his working sheepdogs for years. Mind you, I did get slated for mentioning it on another forum!

Make a tea from eyebright instead. Can't think of the proper name for the herb just now. you can get it loose dried in my local health food shop.
Thanks will try the tea tonight. Fingers crossed :)
