Just wondering when the best time to have the 2nd Canine Herpes Virus injection is.  Have a bitch due 10th March - 1st litter but she is huge!!!

Mine has always had her 2nd one between 8-14 days before whelping so you need to make an appointment now!

Fortunately I asked my vet to get the injections in for me a couple of weeks ago.  I'll pick them up today when I take my Oldie in for her annual vaccinations.  I give the injections myself - the vet then just charges me for the goods - so much cheaper - only about £16-£17[/i]

Oh well that's not so bad then. Did you give her the vacc today? I must admit my vets is about a 40 minute drive and I hate the fact I have to put her in the car so close to whelping (in case she gets stressed) must admit she doesn't bother a jot, it's just me that gets stressed about it :rolleyes:

Yes, all done.  Collected vaccine and gave it to her when she was asleep on the kitchen floor - about the only place she appears to be comfortable at the moment - I suppose because it's cooler there.  Luckily my vet is only 2 minutes drive away, but although she doesn't get stressed - she gets so excited and I didn't think that was wise for her in her current condition!
