This is awful, it sickens me to think people can do such things :(

I agree absolutely horrific thing to do, hopefully some bad karma will be coming their way!!

But I also just have to say, much loved Collie? Then why was it left to go walkies alone, I don't live anywhere near a road, but still wouldn't let my dog take itself out, dog theft just one of the reasons, getting hurt, disturbing neighbours and going onto property where it shouldn't, it makes no sense.

As wicked as this person/s were the little B's, if the dog was with it's owner it would never have even happened. :-( We all know there are evil people out there, we should always protect out loved ones from children to dogs as much as we can.

Poor, poor dog :( but as you say Carrington, it shouldn't have been allowed out on its own and I notice the report said the dog was let out of the property 'as usual' so this was obviously a regular occurrence. :(

I hope they are making real efforts to seek this person out.  I can't help thinking they are a danger to people as well as animals :(

Agreed, anyone that can hurt an animal, can certainly hurt a human, it takes a certain type of person to inflict pain on others. He/she/they need finding fast.

Why did they have to put the dog down, couldn't they have just sewn up the tail as if it was an emergency dock? I do hope they find the evil **** who did it. :-(

Hi

What a blooming shame but what I dont understand is the dog was let out as per normal at 0535 and it came back at 0610. Who is wandering around at that time in the morning with something strong enought to chop of a tail???  I am thinking maybe the person who has to put up the dog messing on its doorstep every morning at 0535.

I bet it was PTS because of the vet bill to have the tail operated on. I would think to it could of been saved but we dont know how much blood was lost or the damage done. But the type of person who lets there dogs wander are the type that dont believe in paying huge vet bills.

Slightly of topic. Years ago I was talking to a very intelligent person who was very big in the dog world, We were talking about the dog warden and she said she lets out her little terrier every lunchtime and it wanders down to the old peoples home and then comes home at tea time having been spoilt all day. She said she would be livid if the warden picked it up because it wasnt doing any harm. The dog had to walk beside a busy road to get to the home but she still couldnt see anything wrong with it.

Hi, just a guess, but perhaps the dog needed putting down due to blood loss, that is why docking has to be done so early before development and blood supply of the tail. Many dogs have ripped tails and can have an emergency dock, but perhaps in this case with a complete severence too much blood loss had occurred, poor boy. :-(
