My 2.5yr old BC who has been so grumpy and down recently passed his platinum good citizen award last night!!!!
Note: not KC award as that stops at gold but our training club came up with a platinum award which is a bit like obedience for non-obedience dogs. He had to get 50 out of 60 to pass and he got 55 points!!! :-D I was realy pleased, especially as we didn't know it was test night and only found out when we turned up
With no treats and off lead he had do walk to heel whilst doing lots of turns; send away and go down on a point whilst I was directed around the room; fetch his toy from a selection of 5 toys (I was really surprised that he did this as we took a new toy with us :-D) recall then stop at a point; a-class recall - recall to my side then continue walking and a 2 minute out of sight stay (with lots of other dogs in the room!!)
I was really pleased with him :-) He also seemed really happy with himself and is still acting full of it today.
He even proved that he was worth a platinum award this afternoon when OH did not shut garded gate and he took himself on a walk. OH caught up and clled him and he came with a waggin tail!! :-D This is the dog that we have dificulty letting off the lead in most situations!!

Congratulations!!! (and drat, I saw the title and hoped they had created a new award - my girl has passed her Gold at just short of two and now we've nowhere to go) :-)

Why not speak to your club and get them to create their own platinun award. It is quite like a GCA/obedience mix but since we don't do obedience it is quite hard. The god thing about it is that we can keep redoing the test to try and beat our score :-)

Our own club doesn't actually even have anyone to test the Silver or Gold anymore, they just get dates from another club who does have examiners and you can go along on test day. We do do some simple competition obedience though, but it's just such fun doing anything with my girl! Not like my two male nitwits where you just never know what mood they'll be in! :-D
