Hi all,

I just have a quick question - Roxy's first season started on the 6th September, but can someone advise if seasons run from 6 months from the first day, or 6 months from the last day (i.e. beginning og Oct?) I know it's not that scientific and precise, but 've heard that bitches occassionally pee inside shortly before/during a season,

I only ask as the little minx, for the first time since she was a tiny puppy, sat on our bed whilst my husband was in the shower and peed on it.:rolleyes: (have had to hire an upholstry cleaner for the weekend - which is probably a blessing in disguise to get rid of any nasty's prior to spring!!)

Thanks

Karen

Seasons don't often follow a 6 month cycle, for example, my bitch will go 29 weeks between seasons, I always keep a note of when she starts and then again when she has finished.

Don't know about the peeing business ;)

Count from the start of the season, but she won't necessarily have a six-month cycle, although 6 months gives you a rough idea. Anywhere between 5 months and 8 months is perfectly normal, so it's quite possible she's getting ready to come in.

As i humans you count from first day to first day.

My own bitches have gone anything from 4 months from last season to over 9 months.  It often takes a year or two for a regular pattern to emerge in some individuals, and others are never predictable,a and some you could set your clock by.

Anything between 4 and 10 months would be usual.

I have found that while in season bitches seem to have less bladder control, as regards holding as long as normal, and I have found peeing on beds with girls that have just Had pups, so may be a hormonal marking issue.
