Hows the fostering going by the way? Did she accept the new pups?

I cut off the razor-like hooks as soon as I can - certainly by 7 days.

I thought that the surrogate pups were 3 days on the 10th  Make sure you know how old they are for worming etc.

I always clip the nails before 14 days, it is amazing how sharp they can get, I also just use ordinary nail clippers for the little ones.

well when i spoke to owner of foster puppies she said they were born on monday which is what the owner of the stud dog also said ,but when the lady who asked me in the first place if i could take the some of the pups phoned me she said 3 days but the owner is at the moment is in a bit of a dazed state as the bitch of the pups is still not well and she is bottle feeding the other 6 herself with help so i will make sure of date before i worm them other than that touch wood all is going well just hope my bitches milk keeps flowing. On her only other litter milk didnt seem to come in good till about 14 days  and when we took in pups she didnt have loads with just having one pup WHO looks enormous to the others but im sure they,ll catch up

Full milk comes in at 2 weeks, so she will fill out much more then, I am really pleased that all is going well as you know from my previous post I would have hand reared them and introduced slowly to your bitch, I am always on the side of caution, but I am so pleased that your bitch has accepted them and they are all feeding well and your girl is looking after them, yes there will be quite a size difference at least you can't miss your own pup. :-D

Plus side it is great for your pup to have litter mates especially when they are older.

I cut nails before 7 days. I normally use baby nail clippers but this time a friend let me borrow some cat claw scissors and they are brilliant as they are curved, especially easy to use as the pups get older and more wriggly ;-)
