Hi

My husband is very noise sensitive and the washing machine is one of the worse things.  We research a lot of washing machines and Meile came out on top for being very quiet.  The assistant in the shop said it was one of the best so we bought it - but we think it makes more noise than our old one.  We had a meile service man around and he said that it is noisier than he would have expected and to put insulation around it as there is nothing wrong with the machine.  Does anyone else have this make of washing machine and do you find it noisy?

Not a washing machine but we do have a Meile Fridge and dishwasher and they are both very quiet, in fact it's hard to tell when the dishwasher is on? We are very pleased with them both. Maybe you just had a bad one! Monday morning effort by the workforce?

Is it still under guarantee?  If it's noiser than it should be then something must be wrong, so if it can't be fixed, I'd think they'd have to replace it for you.

I would also talk to trading standards as well because I listened to a radio programme a couple of weeks ago and the trading standards rep on there was saying if you ask a specific question and based on the response (in your case it is quiet - one of the best) you buy the article only to find out the information provided was wrong..this means that the article is then 'not fit for purpose' and therefore you should be entitled to your money back.......

the difficulty is in how you prove you asked the question.....

I have a Meile dishwasher, and its very quiet, I have a friend who has a washing machine and dishwasher which are quite ancient and they are also very quiet even now. There is a problem with proving what you all said at the point of sale, but even if noise had not been a main factor for you, the fact the person that came out said it was noisier than it should be, and actually took steps to try to stop it, should be in your favour that the machine is a noisy one anyway. To me, excessive noise when working that is unusual for that make of machine, means something inside, either with parts or construction, is not right and this could well alter the length of working life of the machine. If the shop won't take it back, CAB or trading standards is a good next step.
