Hi,  my friend had her 7 month old rotty pup neutered yesterday and I am shocked to hear today that he is in the outside kennel area - tied.  His two kennel mates are staffs and can get inside the kennels and into the outside run - he I assume has limited lenth of rope to allow him around the outside run.

Tell me please does this seem right?  I think its awful and he should be inside where they can see him and check him  and look after him - but then what do I know.

I wouldn't keep a dog outside in a kennel at all, so after surgery seems totally wrong to me.  However, if the dog is always kept outside then maybe this isn't a problem for him?   Why don't you voice your concerns to your friend?

hhmm yes i might just do that..  I only heard because my husband popped round there and I was shocked but then she's had dogs for years and years and I've only had one for 6 months - I was just schocked.

Hi

When you say it it does sound bad but a lot of people keep there dogs outside in kennels and they are fine. I know I personally would want him beside me incase he bothered his stiches. I think as long as they are keeping a eye on him and he isnt over doing it or getting cold he should be. When my GSD was neutard he was in the house with me and still managed to get a couple of stiched out and caused a infection even though I was watching him.

Hi Maxine
I also think it's a bit quick to put him back in the kennel but he probally isn't clean in the house so it will be easier for them.

I'm not in favour of outside living for dogs but I enjoy the interaction and snuggles on the sofa.
