i have been told that dogs that come in to the uk bye plane have to go though an agent. the owner or breeder cannot do cargo or arrange the flight, you have to arrange bye an agent.

Not so, as otherwise how would I have travelled back with Lexi in October.

I had to fill out all the paperwork at Cargo their end before the flight, or if I had not been flying with her someone (an agent) could have done so on my behalf.

i think it as change since oct 2006.

which airline did you use.
that what they are stating that agent at the country the dog coming from the agent will do all the paper, even if i was flying  or not.

rang BA cargo,TNT,DHL,all stating that i have to go though a agent to bring into the uk bye plane,

put working the cost out with an agent and flight it will be as the same price if i go bye ferrie or euro train two day traveling there two days back.with petrol, accomation.food, just for a two hour flight.

but some thing elis may turn bye july.some one in the show world in sweden may come over for the summer shows here if so i pay for them to bring him over.

But it is SWEDISH cargo you need to check with of course -not the ones here. http://aac.nets.se/category/djurtransport/ Cargo company going from Arlanda.
Certainly there is nothing on DEFRA's website that says you have to use an agent, you just need to sue an apporved transport company which of course includes various airlines.

LOL I mean USE not sue! Didn't want to edit as it would screw the links up. :)

Think I may be able to help - some airlines are  insisting on using carriers, rather than shipping direct.  Lots of them have changed their schemes recently, for instance, BA (to the USA at any rate) now will onlly fly dogs shipped as cargo, you can't take them as excess baggage anymore.

On the Defra website if you are using BA you have to Use an IPATA agent, this is from America, as I am bringing a dog in from the USA, I do not know if it is the same from Europe, from Slovakia we did not have to and that was 2 years ago.
