Hi tomorrow is the day I have my tear ducts sorted.  All through the summer I thought I had hayfever, treated myself with everything I could before finally going to the Dr's then he treated me with several things before getting my diagnosis and tomorrow is the day they will fingers crossed unblock them!  Fingers crossed for me, I'm apprehensive but boy am I looking forward to dry eyes after 8 months of constantly streaming eyes!  x

Good luck Craigles.  My dad has had various things done to his eyes over the years and none of them have been as bad as he imagined and have all been pain free.  Let us know how you get on.  :)
- By Jax [gb] Date 01.01.07 19:21 UTC
I had one of my tear ducts flushed a few years ago.  Great, no more sticky eyes :)

It's been cancelled!!! I was in the shower and hubby took the call saying that Mr so and so was ill so wasn't doing his clinic!
- By Lea Date 02.01.07 09:29 UTC
Oh no Craigles. Am so sorry, all the anticipation for nothing :( :(
Hope the rescedual quickly.
Lea :)
- By justlou Date 02.01.07 11:23 UTC
Oh No :( Sorry it's been cancelled.

I hope they offer you another appointment very soon x
- By Lori Date 02.01.07 17:32 UTC
How disappointing. :-( I hope you get a new appointment soon but having to psych yourself up again isn't nice (nor the wasted day off). But I know a parent who was happy to have you around. That must have earned you some good karma for some happy news.
- By craigles [gb] Date 02.01.07 14:37 UTC
I've calmed down now!  I was a tad angry at the cancellation although I do see now that I am thinking rationally that things happen that cause unavoidable cancellations in the world of Dr's!

I went to town and bought a new top! A wasted days holiday from work for both me and hubby is the more annoying factor of this!  Whilst I was in town getting a local newspaper from a large well known newsagents, 1st jobsworth contender for 2007 was spotted!  I was in queue and man and lady behind had a child in buggy around 2yrs old I'm guessing and no warning she was just sick all down her coat, her mum whipped her coat off her and asked the lady on the till if she could have a carrier bag.............'no sorry we only give them with purchases!' I just couldn't believe it!  I got my spare one out of my handbag (yes i'm the annoying organised person!) and gave it to her and they were very grateful and left the shop!  No matter where I worked I just couldn't have done that!

Sorry to hear it was cancelled

Do you have to take holiday when you are having this done ?

Lets hope they rearrange it for you very soon ;)

I have to take holiday unless I want the day off unapid.  Not good but unfortunately that's how it is and as it said on letter I wouldn't be able to drive home, hubby also had to book a day off!  No idea how long I'll be waiting for next appointment but I've put a note in my planner for two weeks and if I haven't heard anything I will ring them.
- By Lori Date 03.01.07 08:57 UTC
I'd be ringing them now and not getting off the phone until I was rescheduled!!
- By craigles [gb] Date 03.01.07 09:24 UTC
Oh Lori it's just not in me, I'll patiently wait until I decide to go private, it's already crossed my mind but I'm waiting for two weeks to see if they have anything to offer first.  I often wish I was more assertive but I just lie down and let people walk all over me!  Although I am getting better with the confidence I have been doing teaching in front of groups of 10!
- By Lori Date 03.01.07 09:36 UTC
I'm glad the teaching is helping your confidence, I know you've been making a lot of changes in your life recently. I think if it's your health that is being affected then standing up for yourself is not being pushy or demanding. It is not an unreasonable request to have an appointment they cancelled rescheduled immediately. I am always very polite when I ask and find that the vast majority of the time you will get a positive response. I only pull out the stroppy pants as a last resort and only for the important things.

You even have a good excuse to call. "My husband got the call cancelling the appointment but didn't get the date of when it was rescheduled. He's such a bloke." ;-) (sorry guys) It couldn't hurt. Pretend it's for your granddaughter. :-D
- By craigles [gb] Date 03.01.07 09:42 UTC
we have such a performance to go through though it's not simple, it's a booking service where you have a pin number and password, it's a riddiculous scheme.  I think if it were as simple to call and ask for another appointment I would but last time I rang took me 3 days to get through!  Oh damn it watch this space I'll do it now!
- By craigles [gb] Date 03.01.07 09:48 UTC
On the phone now to the booking service and no they can't re-book me as I thought I have to go via my GP again! How rubbish is that?  They have given me a Patient Liaison number for the hospital as I said I wanted to complain at the service but now do I ring it??
- By Lea Date 03.01.07 10:38 UTC
YES RING IT-
It wasnt your fault it was cancelled,
In this area if you have to go through your GP it goes to someone else who then refers you to the surgeon. This can take up to 6 months. Thats after the 4 week wait to actually see your GP.
You SHOULD NOT have to go through your GP.
It should be rescedualled.
I would have been straight onto the Patient Liason person.
Go on ring it and tell them the situation.

i will definately ring but not sure when but will do I promise as soon as I can, going to work now and I guess they'll be shut when I leave but I finish work tomorrow at 1.15 so I'll try and fit it in then before my hair appointment at 2.45! I'll never know how I managed to work full time with 4 children under 10 at one point!  I don't have time to do anything now and only work 18.5 hrs a week!
- By Lori Date 03.01.07 12:00 UTC
Absolutely! You didn't lose the appointment because you didn't show - they cancelled. The problem has not gone away, why should you have to go through your GP again?!! I'd call and complain and also call my GP to tell them what happened. They might do a bit of hopping up and down for you.

Good for you for trying. Be proud of yourself for that! :-D
- By craigles [gb] Date 04.01.07 14:41 UTC
Done it!  Rang them and I got an appointment after about 15 mins for next Tuesday at 9am!  How easy would it have been to just give me one as soon as I rang up!  So hopefully next Tuesday at 9am I will be seen as I'm not sure what time they'll ring me to cancel it, or will I have already travelled the 17 miles to the hospital? We'll wait and see!
- By Lori Date 04.01.07 15:03 UTC
Well done and great news! We'll turn you into a squeeky wheel yet ;-) I'm very proud of you craigles; don't tell anyone but 20 years ago I used to be a really shy doormat
- By craigles [gb] Date 09.01.07 13:14 UTC
All done and home!  Have to go back in three months to make sure it's worked, immediate reaction is that it has as my eyes haven't felt this good for so long!  x
