Topic Dog Boards / General / KC reg............will they register a litter a 2nd litter
- By freespirit10 Date 29.12.06 21:07 UTC
Hi

This has recently come up in conversation and we didn't agree on the answer.

If a bitch had a litter 7 months a go and then whelped a 2nd litter will the pups be able to be registered???????????????

It depends on several things. How old is the bitch? How many litters has she had? Is the owner a licenced breeder?

I think she is 3 years old and has only had the 2 litters. No the breeder is not licensed. But first litter was with another breeder who sold the bitch on not realising her sterile!!!!!!!! 11yr old stud dog had mated her!!!!!
Breeder kept the sister who was also in the same kennel who has pups as well. Some serile dog eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then yes they can register the litter, as only those breeders that are required to be licenced as commercial have to have a year between litters, though as not may of them register their pups would be a job to prove that.

Oh well I was wrong then or maybe it was just wishful thinking that the KC would NOT allow us to register litters only 7 mths apart.

As a breeder whos dogs have approximately 10 - 12 mths between seasons I can see that it could be seen as losing out to those who's bitches have only 6 mths BUT I would rather have the 20 mths between litters myself. After all it gives you time to get one pup out of junior classes before starting again in puppy.

This litter was an accident but I still feel sorry for the bitch.
