Hi - I'm really frustrated!!!  I have an mp3 player that is 18 months old and last night I tried to update 'firmware' on it - because windows media player told me to....  it didnt work and now the mp3 is completely frozen and windows media player doesnt even recognise it!  all the songs I had on it are gone - which I wouldnt mind if I could reload them but I cant do anything - except chuck it in the bin I reckon...

anyway else had this by any chance?

Nope sorry, no problems with my Creative Zen.  Well, the headphone jack went faulty after a couple of months but I got a brand new replacement one and had no problems since and that was about 18 months ago.

Try the Creative website for help.  There is a discussion forum on the Support section.  Perhaps if you post your problem there someone may be able to assist :)

I dont have a Zen but I have a Sony Walkman MP3 and its TERRIBLE! The programme (Connect) takes so long to load the songs AND put them on the MP3 player. Whats worse is I've had mine less than a year and the volume has come off entirely so I am now having to use pins to control it!
I was thinking about getting a zen to replace it as I hear good things. Would you not recommend it?! I really want to use media player with it as well as it will be a lot less time consuming!

Up until this happened I would have recommended a Zen, we havethree zens in this house and one i-pod.  The zens with media player are definitely much easier to use.  It became difficult because my zen being the oldest needed to have an update to use windows media player 11 which is what my daughters zen uses (hers is the newest).  The update to the device didnt work - the support desk have said I can send it off for repair at a cost to myself but havent told me the cost yet - I did respond that as it was their upgrade that didnt work I shouldnt have to pay - but they havent come back to me yet - I'll let you know!!!!

Have you checked out the Creative forum. This topic has some information on updating firmware and MP 11. Perhaps it would help you. Looks like a case of doing things in the right order. The firmware should have been updated before Media player.

I've got it working - I'm so pleased....  got the old laptop out of the cupboard and was able to do all the updates.... took a whole night though
