Topic Dog Boards / Health / How to get rid of walking dandruff

My friend's house and dogs and her are all infested with harvest mites / walking dandruff / cheyletelia (can't be bothered to find spelling). She's tried Frontline and JD flea shampoo and vinegar, and is off to the vet to try Stronghold next. Anyone got any ideas if that doesn't work?? She also has a litter of 8 week puppies so is rather limited as to what she can use. I hasten to add she lives in the countryside and the dogs have country walks, it's not that she lives in an infested garbage dump or something! :-D

Ivermectin works.......... use it all the time on my cats as they get Cheyletiella frequently. Don't know what I'd do without it. (It's never gone on my dogs though.) But of course in dogs the BREED matters an awful lot as not all can take it.

The one time that I brought it home from a show, I sorted it with Benzyl Benzoate.  I know what I would do for mine but suggest that it's used under direction from the Vet.  It's what Vets used to use (in the dark ages! :D) before the modern chemicals.  I also had a litter of pups who were also treated at the same time with no problem. :)

They're Cavs, not collies, so it should be ok. I'll pass those on, thanks!
