Hello
I have a nine months old Springer, and was going to show him.
The six front lower teeth do not have enough room between the two large
teeth, and one tooth is growing forward. Our vet has said the best thing is to have the tooth that is growing forward removed and that will allow the five other teeth to space out. We are going to let the vet remove the forward tooth next week. My question: Do you think I will be able to put the pup into Open Shows? or will this fault exclude him? The pup is a super little dog with great markings, he is a very dark brown and white.
Many thanks for any help
Anne

Nothing except aggresive temperment bars a dog from being shown, the missing tooth will be taken into consideration along with any other faults. Having said that I supose that you should ask the KC for permision to show and as the extraction could be said to be correcting a fault you may not get permision, where as had he lost it in an accident you would get permision to show. Well not my fault it's the rules of the KC. I can't tell you whether to report the op to the KC or not it's up to you. JH

Unf. I think that you do have to tell the KC if you have this done, I'm sure that someone else will be able to tell you whether you do or not. I find it so annoying when everything else is what it should be and because of a simple op. like this you may never be able to show your dog.
