I need someone to help me here and provide me with some advise. Here is my problem:
My SHELTIE has started to develop skin problems and losing a lot of fur, we
have visited a vetenarian for over 1 year ad invested a significant amount of
dollar on services to find myself again back to SQUARE 1. I want to keep my dog
and I need to know if anybody in your organization has encountered similar
problems with their dogs and how was the problem cured.
Sheltie: Female
Years : 5
Living accomodation: Town house
Exercise: walking about 3 hours per day
Food: Dry food
I understand that your service at this time is free. I would appreciate any
feedback you can provide to me.

Have you tried feeding tinned food as opposed to the dry stuff? We have a West Highland White Terrier and were advised by the breeder to avoid the dry complete foods which can cause skin problems. However our vet still tried to insist that we feed complete dry food.We chose to ignore this advice on the grounds that the breeder knows best.
If you have not tried changing to tinned meat it might be worth a try.
Hope your dog gets better soon.

I would also suggest you try changing the food, either to tinned or dry, but if dry stick to lamb & rice or fish & rice and avoid too much grain, apart from rice, in fact no grain at all it's pos. Or if you can prepare it yourself meat & rice is fine but you may need to add vitimins etc. to be sure you are giving a balanced diet. Some people I know use raw chicken necks but I don't know what else they feed, perhaps someone will post on this board with details of this diet for you.
