HI ALL,
My bitch was first mated 8 days ago
when she had her last litter she stopped bleeding a day after being mated and went on to have 6 smashing pup. i am worried because this time she was mated on day 13, 15, 16 but has carried on bleeding and there is no sighn of her stopping, she had her eggs scanned at the time of mating and she was ready.
do they always stop bleeding after mating if they are in pup, well i know some do bleed but is it normal to bleed as she did not bleed last time?
she is well in herself and eating well oh and is clingy, the only problem was she was sick this morning just clear fluid
PLEASE WOULD YOU BE KIND ENOUGHT O SHED SOME LIGHT

yes thanks i have read that already. i have just let her out for a wee and it was like a blood bath that is how much she is bleeding. she doesn't smell that good iether but the smell isn't coming from the blood as i have had a very good smell it seems to be coming from her. she has been bleeding 4 weeks and 1 day so far this seems an awfull lot and this is not normal for her. what do you think?:rolleyes:

Get her to a vet now, urgently why have you not taken her before

I would definitely take her to Vet. It is too hard to say what is happening as there doesn't really appear to be any one particular cause for bleeding this long after mating. It doesn't mean you won't have a good outcome but I would err on the side of caution for the sake of your girl and get her to the vets asap. Is it bright red blood??

I maybe wrong but Pyo ?

If she is smeeling and bleeding alot more than normal I would ring the vets, explain everything and get her there.
Your first post sounded 'normal' but your next post sounds like she needs vet treatment.
Let us know what happens.

the blood is very red like the start of a season, i may of exagerated a little when i said a blood bath i know my bitch very well, she is very well in herself playing with the others, being her usuall greeding self, jumping 10 foot when she see's her lead etc. i will give the vet a ring NOW and let you know.

well just spoken to the vet and she seemed to totally rule out a pyo, but she did say that it is very possible for her to have cists on her overies this would have caused the bleeding. as she is well in herself she has advised that i take her in tomorrow. right does any of you know anything about cists on overies?
