Any other boxer owners dogs developed kennel cough recentley since attending recent Breed ch Show?

Noooo, but I know it's about!
Some reckon their dogs have had head colds but it's not KC:rolleyes:

I've been to Trent, LHCBC and South Wales BC ch show far recently.
Going to Cotswold Ch show in a few weeks.

Touch wood mine are fine :)

it seems like its always this time of year, I know alot of people avoid setter and pointer and LKA because so many dogs come home with kennel cough

Oh its deffo about alright, headcolds... :rolleyes:i was thinking South western ch show.

My youngest has come down with it Since attending the South Wales Champ show and she has had the kennel cough jab.  Just proves they can still catch it and it's pointless even having it done.
I'm not happy at all.  If people know that there dog is ill, Why risk spreading it......just stay home.

Luckily my girl wasn't too bad with it and benylin has manage to control it.

Thing is KC is contagiouos before a dog shows any signs, also being an aireborn virus if you don't take any dogs but do go with KC in your house or area you can spread it that way.  Might not even be a show person, just a pet person. :( unfortantly it's so easily spread

Well thanks for Reesy, that confirms my suspisions of where it came from.... My youngest came down with it too, after attending that particular show ...she has also had the Jab etc. Like yourself im fuming that someone could have so little thought for anyone else! The thing is although the youngest again like your babe managed on Benylin, we are not a single dog household my eldest caught it to and he has been so poorly:mad:

I am aware it is air born and dogs can be infectious before showing any sign of symptoms...and the owners of those dogs are as much a victim as myself... but someone, somewhere down this  chain of KC  will be aware there dogs had it and it is those people im fuming with because they obviously care about little else other than there selves, and there own egos.

none of my others are affected, my concern is I have a bitch that I've mated there too.  Thankfully she isn't due until January.  It does p you off

I hope your oldie is ok, they don't seem to shake it like the youngsters

Thankyou:cool: I hope nothing transpires for your bitch... doesnt it just p ya off:rolleyes:

I was at the South Wales BC Champ show.
Touch wood mine haven't come down with KC.
But then they were only in the hall just before their classes
and taken out straight after. (was in PGB and Limit B).

Know KC is about and some like to think that their dogs only have a head cold which
isn't contagious..
Haven't bothered having my dogs vaccinated with KC jab as that only covers the strains
that the vaccine covers and not new/different strains. Some dogs also come down with
a mild type of KC after the jab.

One of my dogs caught a nasty gastroenteritis bug from a dog show 2 years ago.
The owners had bought to the show a housemate of a dog that was poorly..
My bitch came down with the gastro bug, needed to be in vet on drip as was passing
pure blood. She was ill for a week over £100 vet bill, I was temping at the time and lost a weeks wages,
and all because some one didn't want to lose their entry fee & wanted to win a rosette
For me my dogs health and wellbeing are worth more than a rosette and if they are poorly they are kept
home.

Last year at one of our club shows I watched a bitch poo pure water out of her backside whilst her owners were chatting, they cleaned it up then carried on chatting not sparing a thought for their dog who much have been feeling really poorly or a thought for other peoples dogs who might catch it - 2 days later both of mine were very poorly

Out of interest what is the incubation period from coming into contact with a dog with KC or the owner coming into contact with it to contracting it???
Lea :)

Some sites say 2 - 14 days, others say 8 - 10 days. There may be an element of guesswork involved! :)
