I use the Frontline spot on flea treatment.  It has always been fine, but I just gave my two their treatment and Daisy went mad!  Rolling around and trying to rub her neck on anything.  She's never done this before?

Any ideas?

Hi Jenny,
It sounds like it might be an allergy, but if you do a search for Frontline on this site you'll find lots of info.
All the best,
Barbara

Hi Jenny
My last dog used to do this and the last couple of times we used it on him he seemed to go into a trance just looking at the wall and door for hours and we couldn't get his attention.  The vet said it wouldn't have been the Frontline but I believe it was.  Too much of a coincidence each time we used it.

For our new puppy we don't use any of the chemical flea products, but do give him garlic each day, he also has brewers yeast,  pumpkin seeds and a homeopathic wormer - this seems to keep him flea and worm free.   And, are much more gentle.

It does sound like she has an allergy to it, but if you want to continue with the Frontline, then I think the spray on rather than the spot on is probably best as it's less concentrated in one area.

Hi Jenny
This happened to our Swedish Lapphund a good few years ago, He was nearly driven mad by it and we never used Spot on with him again, it never bothered our other dogs or cat but Dakko must have had some sort of allergy to it. We took him to vet and got some shampoo to calm the itch I think (sorry was a long time ago so I can't remember if he got anything else)

2 of our 4 dogs do this whenever you put anything on them that smells (ear cleaner, frontline, other medicine etc) - they start rubbing themselves and rolling around as if they're trying to get it off.
