Not really a behavioural issue but my 18 months old GR really hates being rolled over onto his back so I can brush his chest/tummy area. He is quite happy to roll on his back himself but unfortunately has usually sprung up again before I get the brush to hand :D although when I have managed to catch him in that pose, he doesn't mind me brushing him then.
As he has long hair which will matt/knot if not brushed, has anyone ideas for encouraging him to roll onto his back on command?

Moose is sometimes like this and doesn't like to it unless she is relaxed :)
What we normally do it get on the floor with her and have a play/fuss session which normally ends up with her on her back with all feet pointing upwards :)
Ah, good plan. :) Thanks will try that.

It may take a while but they have fun and you do end up brushing their bellies eventually :D
Will have to hide all his toys first since as soon as I start to fuss him, he gets them one at a time to play with so no chance of his ending up on his back then! :)

LOL unusual for a Golden -mine never get brushed on the back as the moment you start brushing they flop on their backs and want their tummies done. :D Doesn't he like his tummy rubbed either? That's another thing all the Goldens I've had have always loved, and the step to brushing is then small.
You have the opposite problem then! :D Although mine is very affectionate, he never has been one for throwing himself on his back for tummy fuss, though he is happy to have that done if he has just happened to roll onto his back. Pleased to report I did manage to brush his 'underneath' last night using the tip Lucy gave so thanks Lucy. :)

Mine is like yours Marianne. Often I haven't finished the sides and he's rolling over waiting for tummy brushes. You only need to start scratching his belly by his back leg and he starts the roll.
