Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Help regarding judges comment in critique

Reading a recent show critique the judge mentioned 'return of upper arm', I wonder if someone could tell me what this refers to.  I think the complete comment was ' would prefer better return of upper arm'  Hope someone can help.

Thank you

If you look at the front of the dog side on you will see the shoulder which leads down at the chest level to the upper arm.

Return of upper arm is the angle that the upper am attachés to the point of shoulder and where t then places the elbows.

Ideally the angle formed by the shoulder and the upper arm should form close to a right angle where the two parts meat at point of shoulder.

Many dogs will have a short upper arm so that instead of angling back under the dogs body it hangs almost straight down from where it meats the shoulder assembly, other dogs have straight shoulders, and some have both, each gives a too open angle of the two parts thereby restricting the dogs length of stride.

Actually this has prompted me to ask the same question...
one of my boy's crittiques says 'lovely head with a lot of work in it' now my boy got BOB, the bitch ticket winner also had 'very feminine head with a lot of work in it' no other dogs had this comment, i assume it is a complement but haven't got a clue what it means, any ideas anyone?
This is a very pretty plush headed breed.

Hi Sharon, as you are aware, heads in our breed are part of what might be considered correct breed type. Alot of work refers to several things, depth of stop, shape of skull, under eye chiseling, width and depth of muzzle, and as you say, plushness and padding of muzzle. A well worked head pleases in all these details. It's the opposite of plain in head. :)
