My bitch had pups Mon and was very settled but this morning has decided to dig in a very unaccesable place in the garden.
Mum and pups are doing great no problems so why has she started this behaviour?
Thought of enclampsia but she is ot distressed at all and will come in and settle with pups if called?

Strange though it is, a lot of bitches do continue to do this after their pups. They just continue to dig a den in the cold outdoor earth:rolleyes: even though they have a lovely warm one inside. So don't worry not all bitches do this, but it is a normal instinct for some. :-)

I have blocked off the spot now and Mum has settled back with pups so hopefully she has got the message that the frosty garden is no place for her babies??

Mines do it quite a bit and sometimes for several weeks.

Sorry I don't have any ideas on why they do it, my bitch did the same.  My bitch used to try digging in the alcove after she had her pups, she never tried moving them there or anything and she was perfectly healthy and had beautiful, healthy pups :-)

Most of my friends think I'm Ga-Ga about my dogs , only one who is a daft as me. Lots of showing friends but most of them are too far away to chat to every day, so it's nice to chat dogs to other mad fools like me??
