We have 3 dogs and 3 cats but they do not mix. The cats were much older when we got the dogs and very timid so we tended to keep them seperate as the cats were happier this way. They aren't very people orientated anyway so they tend to avoid being with us anyway. We have got the chance to rescue this young kitten that is currently at work, having been found as a stray and no one has claimed her. She is under a year and is absolutely gorgeous and playful. Unfortunately though the dogs do have a tendency to chase cats when out on walks and in the house if they meet. Do you think it is possible to retrain the dogs to live happily with this kitten or should we forget about re homing her? Shes very bold - completely different to our other 3 and we would really like the dogs and her to live together in harmony. THe girls are not too bad, but my springer tends to be a bit high prey drive, and i am worried that it would be impossible to train him. He has killed rats, mice and small furries before, but although he makes a lot of noise he has never hurt a cat. Do you think i am asking too much of them? Is it unfair on the kitten?

This problem has been discussed many times on here ;) Yes, it can work, but you need to have eyes in the back of your head :D My dogs were potential cat killers and came to love the cats. Sleeping with them and cleaning one another. Other cats are still a problem, but I keep a close one them.

Do a search on cats and hopefully you will find something to help :)
