Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Ethoxyquin

Hi

I am concerned about something I have read recently about any food that contains Fish meal(which are a lot) I understand that it is preserved with ethoxyquin at source, long before it reaches the pet food manufacturers !! So although various top brand foods don't add ethoxyquin it is however still there in the food. It is mostly the Fish meal this applies to.
Does anyone know how correct this info is????

(a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this section, fish meal or fish scrap, containing at least 6 percent but not more than 12 percent water, is authorized for transportation by water only when packaged as follows...(c) When fish scrap or fish meal is offered for transportation by vessel in bulk in freight containers, the fish meal must contain at least 100 ppm of anti-oxident (ethoxyquin) at the time of shipment.

Not all fish meal is transported over water though, and pet food manufactures(the good ones) can get around this by dealing with safer sources who dont use ethox.,i am also not sure if the same laws apply here as they do in the US where this is common practice, but thats about as far as my understanding goes.
