Oh the exuberence of a Springer!! :D
Its really easy remedied emjip...BUT.. your Daughter will need to put the leg work in, and do it consistently..there's no magic one hit cure...its going to be training, training, training!!!
What you'll find is a smart little cookie like a Springer will actively enjoy the training, and having something to put her mind too (they love to throw themselves full throttle at life dont they!! :D) will make all the difference.
Your daughter cant live like this...and ..Im afraid to say...leave it any longer and the poor dog may not live much longer. (we had a post recently from a lady who lost her dog in a split second to a road traffic accident outside her house..she thought she'd got her house like fort knox as well. :( )
Its just not worth taking the risk is it...
Take a look a this article for training suggestions http://www.clickersolutions.com/articles/2001c/stay2.htm
Im sure others will pop up soon with tips
Best of Luck and get daughter cracking on the training!!!

When you say, she can't let it play in the garden, what exactly do you mean? My springer would probably disappear out the front door if i let him, but i can leave him in the back garden because it is securly fenced.

isnt the garden securely fenced? or do you mean the front door out onto the street? if it is the later, just prevent him getting to the door when it is opened for people to come in our out. because my dog would also dissapear out of the door if i let her. just really reiterating lucyandmeg

the garden is fenced of but there is a river at the bottom of the garden and she cant fence it of the door is at the back of the house and leads on to the garden there is no traffic she lives in ireland in the country she takes her for long walks twice a day and she comes back when she calls she is worried in case she gets lost she as not had her long about two months told her to take her for training we have dogs of your own so we know so we know about the roads  i think she is more worried about her getting lost she as got out about twice and they got her straight back at at first they thought it was because they had just got her and she was not used to them but my two dogs go out in the garden and play and we have a small wall they dont go any were iwas just wondering if any body had come across this before will try a few of the links that as been put on thanks you for your help Ann

Speaking as someone who has now got to reinforce the previously effective fencing in order to keep a terrier from hunting his way halfway to the next village, the only real solution is to make an area that is truly dog-proof and contain the dog within it! We've got a large garden that leads down to a small stream and fields and while we much prefer the stream to be the boundary point, we've had to accept that this isn't practical. Thus some sturdy fencing now has to go up and it may be that your daughter also has to fence off an area of her garden to ensure that her Springer can't get out. At the end of the day, the safety of the dog has to be given first priority even if this does affect the preferred layout of the garden.
