My 11 month old female golden has in the past 10 days started to have acute diarreah. We have done the usual starve 24 hrs then gradually over a few days get her back onto her usual food.
Once we do that the squits start again. We have had faeces sample all come back ok, no bacteria etc in there, the vet has now suggested a bowel endosocopy to see if there is any problems there. I have to say I am in 2 minds about this, whilst talking to the nurse yesterday she did suggest a food intolerance, she is on JWB and has been since a pup.
My male golden is fine good firms ones etc! and he is fed on the same thing.Have any of you any ideas as to what to do next?
Thing is in herself she is fine and you wouldnt think anything wrong with her..
Any suggestions most welcome....
Sorry to hear about your golden. Perhaps she has suddenly developed an intolerance to the food or the food itself has been changed? Would think it has to be worth trying another food to see if it makes a difference, changing over slowly. Could it have anything to do with her season or is she spayed?
Thanks for your reply my girl is spayed....

I know your girl has been on JWB successfully, but I have to say that my bitch gets terrible diarrhoea with it, however slowly I introduce it -although i know others swear by it.
It could be a developing intolerance, and maybe a change of food may be of help.
Thanks to all that have replies I too am thinking along the lines of food intolerance my male golden has a wheat/gluton allergy and seems ok with JWB, so we are now giving her a gentle diet and seeing how it goes.
several years ago I put my lot on to JWB. Deef used to get regular bouts of dire rear and go off his food for days at a time and on this he seemed to be ok. It only lasted for 12 months and it was back to the dire rear etc etc :-( I also had him checked out and everything was fine so I changed him to Burns out of desperation and had no trouble for two years, he is now on raw. It could very well be that your girl has developed an intolerance to the food or possibly they have done something different with the recipe? Strange thing was I never had any trouble with their crackerjack biscuits, only the dry food.......
Is it worth trying a different flavour of JWB.
All mine are on it, but my old boy can't have the Fish one, although his nephew is thriving on it. My younger dog can't get on with the Lamb, so they are all on Turkey.
Good luck anyway.... :)
