:eek:Is this do able on my own, am pretty confident or should i take a mate. More worried about my dog than me as i have heard some not very nice things sometimes can happen to dogs viewed as competition. As for if there is any truth in it well i obviously dont no being a novice would just appriciate your opnions on weather i should be ok alone or best to take a mate.

I'd take a friend (although s/he would probably have to pay to get in). It can be a long, tiring day, and it's nice to have someone to chat to as well as mind your dog when go to the loo. Although deliberate 'nobbling' is very unusual, many dogs who aren't used to it don't like being left alone in a strange environment and can get quite distressed.

Good luck!

Hi.........its always nice to have someone you know to talk to, especially if as you say its your first show, however you can do it alone, just bear in mind, if you are worried about leaving your dog un supervised, that you will have to go to the loo at some point and you cant take the dogs in.
I'm sure that one of us friendly peeps can help take you under our wing, what breed do you have? which day are you showing?
There is more hype than actual damage done to dogs [ although it does occasionally happen] but without sounding derogatory to your dog its usually dogs that are already well known and known to be ''a threat'' that seem to get things happen, a complete unknown is just that....unknown .....so until he/she proves itself then i wouldnt worry too much
hope this helps?

I've always gone to shows on my own (including my first  ) and been fine. But it's always nice to have some moral support, and my first Ch Sh was rather scary :) Fortunately the dog didn't think so.
Never personally known any problems with 'nobbling' either- but don't think I count as competition :D

I had my breeder come to my first ever show (beat my boy's litter sister that she'd kept! :-D ) but mostly I go alone. Mind you, I've got some friends who live nearby and show Cavs too now, so I'm hoping to have more company in the future.
