I have just been to a one day seminar on Teddington Touch. I have to say that I went into it with an open mind my partner was a bit more sceptical but there is no doubt that what we witness worked on nearly all the dogs there.
We have a high energy breed not known for its ability to stay clam. Showing can be a crazy mass of wagging tails and bouncing dogs as family members and pals greet each other at shoulder height - kissing everyone on the way - pass the wet wipes.
I have a very, very exuberant dog who's equally crazy dog pall was at the seminar. After 20 minutes of T Touch they were both very calm, not panting or leaping at every one trying to say a very over the top hello.
The puppy I kept from last years litter has started to suffer from separation anxiety. She always was a bit of a whiner but lately she has been driving us crazy crying a lot of the time and in an almost continual stress, no physical cause all vet checked. I decide to give it a go on her this morning and as we hit first stress point - me having a shower - I gave her the T touch treatment for 5 minutes. For the first time in weeks she sat outside the bathroom door with the rest of the group waiting for me without crying. I find that amazing.
I have to say that the training session focused as much on the owner as the dog and changing our behaviour around our dogs to make them calmer.
Either way I will be attending the next session when it comes close enough.
Myth or mumbo jumbo, I don't know but my girl and crazy boy seem a lot happier this morning lying at my feet while I type. Even the post man was able to deliver this morning without the usual chorus of 'he's here again mum trying to get in through our letter box'.
Well worth a try on stressy dogs/owners.
Hi,
I'm also very interested in (Tellington Touch :-) ) so it's interesting to hear your experience, I keep meaning to go to a workshop - it's just finding the time. It'll be interesting to hear others experience of it, I know others on here do use it, I think if I remember rightly Moonmaiden has talked about it before.

There's a lovely lady on my dog training course who's a TTouch practitioner, she's used it to great effect combined with positive training on her bullmastiffs (both had behavioural issues for various reasons), and she's helped quite a few owners with their dogs.
One story that stuck in my mind was a couple who owned Pyrenean mountain dogs - they were on their third, all three had suffered torsion but the only one that survived it was that third dog - it was the only one they used TTouch on on the way to the vet.

My dogs love their body wraps but really hate the actuall t touch. THey get all jumpy.

The boy doesn't mind the wrap and positively loves the touch espeially the ears and muzzle. The puppy is happy to be touched and have her fur moved - can't think of the correct word for that.
What type of touch do your dogs not like?

They don't like it on the body or muzzle. They don't mind it on the ears. They don't mind it for about 10 seconds but then they just move away.
Thanks

I've not really looked into it as I was unconvinced, there are so many 'methods' and 'gadgets' out there - but it sounds like you've had a really good response, which is great, and has made me think I might give it a try! :) Would you mind telling me where you found out about the courses?

Hi
There's a lady (Marie Miller) in the Midlands who combines T Touch and clicker training - I realise that's miles away from you, but just thought I would mention it in case anyone in the area wanted to pursue. I am going to spectate at her class on Thursday night with a veiw to enrolling my new pup if I like what I see. Did a bit of T Touch years and years ago with the horses when Linda TJones was promoting her first book.........will be interested to see how if/how t has developed and moved on in the interim.
