Hi,

Just a query about my GSD's coat.  I know they have a double coat and Jack looks like he has lost his top coat. His fur seems quite thin in a patch on 1 side, it does not itch or looks dry or flakey, i was just wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light but saying that i am taking him to the vets tomorow.

Hi there, sorry to hear about your GSD`s problem.  I also have a bitch who is in full moult now, although she is short haired she has the thickest undercoat you could imagine, I get carrier bag fulls of it and she does look dreadfull she looks really moth eaten, however I have noticed occasionally that it looks as if it is a bit thin in a particular spot, (although cant really see the skin through it)usually the tops of her legs, but when she is in full coat she looks fine.  Not sure if that is the same as yours.
