i'm hoping you husky owners might be able to give me (for someone else) info on owning the breed. A work colleague of mine is thinking of getting one-husband has wanted one for years and years. She was looking at keeping it in a secure run with shelter when she was at work in the morning, then having it in while she / hubby was at home. As far as i can tell, the 'secure run' will be an old part of the drive fenced in with 6ft fence, running off the house about 6x6 mtrs (i'm assuming) in size. There'll be a bit o grass and paving.

any words of wisdom on.......everything?? Exercise, diet, kenneling etc etc.

thanks :)

Hey Munkee Magic! (waves!)
Tell them to have a lope about on these two sites (the Q&A sections are great) if they havent already..
http://www.scottishshc.org.uk/ (Scottish Siberian Husky Club)
http://www.siberianhuskyclub.com/ (Siberian Husky Club of Great Britian)
I'll PM you my email add (more than welcome to pass it on for any 'immediate' queries they may have I'll be happy to chat til the sleds come home about Sibes! :D :D)
Im sure I dont need to tell you...but do warn them there are ALOT of very badly bred Sibes about at the moment
(One particular 'Puppy' website has a Sibe stud advertised as "A good Gaurd Dog" )

>In a secure run<

Hit the nail on the head there...every Sibe has a bit (well..alot!) of the Harry Houdini in them ;)
So 'secure' must be the operative word!!Be wary of the grass (Sibes will dig.. to Australia!!) make sure it wont be digging out!! and left to its own devices, a bored lonely Sibe will have all the destructive powers of the Tasmanian devil.
Anyhoo..its late (I'll post more tomorrow, worn out from Mel's M&M game!!)
PM ing you now xx
