Other than someone punching you, what would cause a black eye?

If there does not seem to be a reasonable trauma explanation for it I would see a doctor as I would be concerned about issues such as high blood pressure or clotting disorders.

I just woke up with it on Monday and it wasn't really noticeable but now people keep commenting on it.

I agree, quick check to the doctors, there are some medical reasons for black eyes, pop along to your doctors for a blood test, it is always best to check.

Not connected as it is not a black eye, but there is a certain eye mascara that I have used that causes my eye to puff out, it could even be a reaction to something like that.

I am allergic to some mascaras. I discovered this by accident a few years back when one morning I woke up with a rash all round my eyes.

I did wonder if it could be mascara this time because it was a new one(and I fell straight asleep without washing if off, whilst waiting for OH to come out of bathroom) but with it just being one eye, I wasn't sure.

I'll see what it's like over the weekend & book appointment Monday if it's no better.

I'm also overdue for my two year eye check up so suppose I ought to book an opticians appointment this weekend as well.

Agree with Isabel -I have a clotting disorder and always have bruises I haven't got a clue how I got.
