I have read in a couple of places that you shouldn't feed your dogs tuna in brine but tuna in oil is ok....  None of them explain why not brine... Just wondered if anyone on here knows??

No idea, but a couple of manufacturers do tuna in spring water now which might be a better bet all round.

Yeah think I might go for the spring water one as I wouldn't really like to give him the one in oil as it is fat at the end of the day...

Yes it is the salt that is the problem. I also feed sardines in sunflower oil and pilchards in tomato sauce a couple of times a week.

Interestlingly Tuna in oil is rich in selenium but tuna in brine is deficient in it Just thought I'd add that :D :D :D

Thet do say it's the salt especially bad for kidney problems.

You can buy tinned Tuna,Sardines and Mackerel in spring water now :)
I buy mine from Sainsburys (in the Light blue tin) Im loathed to recommend Supermarkets but its the only place so far Ive found them (still on my Supermarkets are killing my Local towns small family business's Butchers,Bakers etc..crusade! ;) )
