Hi, this relates to food but it may overlap into health so I apologise if its the wrong place.

On Saturday we had to go out for a while so arranged for my BIL to come round and dog sit for an hour or so and take Misty out as well as feed her.  Unfortunately we apparently run out of food so he bought some food from our local shop to get by.  When I say apparently run out, there was enough for the two meals that we were out which was plenty so he obviously overfed her on the first meal:rolleyes:!  Anyway, since then she has had the most horrendous pong about her:eek:.  Its not just wind as she was constantly smelling:rolleyes:.  It is subsiding a little now but could it have been the overfeeding that lead to it or was it purely because of the type of food.

It could well be a combination of both! That's the smell is subsiding suggests that her digestive system is returning to normal.

Personally I've never underestimated the appallingly intrusive flatulence that dogs can treat us to - they may not seem audibly windy but by heck you need one of those radioactive suits on to tolerate the general miasma!

You can usually tell a dog who's fed a crap food by the constant stink permeating from them, that the owners think is a 'normal doggy smell :(

Overfeeding would probably cause the toots, but not an overall smell.

Kerri,

If the smell was strong and had a fishy odour it may well have been that she expelled some fluid from her anal glands.  The first time you smell it is always a shock :-)
