A friend of mine has recently returned from holiday to find that her butcher is closing down! She is in the Newbury area, does anyone know of a butcher (or farm shop perhaps?) that would be willing to supply her with bones? I have passed on the details of a supplier that I use that she could get various meats from but the only bones they do are large marrow bones. At the moment we are not sure if they would deliver to her area so just in case if there are any suppliers apart from Landywoods and AMP that any of you know of PLEASE tell me so that I can pass it on to her. :-D

I would phone ALL of the local butchers. Our local butcher closed down last year and a month ago we eventually managed to find another one who will supply us free but we used oxtail and chicken wings/turkey drumsticks from Tesco in the meantime

melodysk, I have never seen ox tail in my local tesco's, do they get it specially for you  or is it only in the larger ones? Would love to try mine on some and see what they think! :-D

Nope, we only have a medium sized Tesco ..we live in a market town in Lincolnshire :) They often have oxtail in there ..in with the beef section and ready cut into chunks :)

Both my local Tescos sell oxtail too, it's usually around £3 for a tub with several chunks inside. Even the little bits take a surprisingly long time to eat, a tub will keep my four busy for around 20 mins - big bit each for boys and the little bits shared between the girls :)

Morrissons will sell you bones,I buy lamb bones from there they charge52p per kg,when I called last week there was a young girl on the butchery counter I asked for bones ,and asked for about £1.50 in monies worth. When I got home I had 7 full breasts of lamb, the dogs thought their birthdays had arrived

If your friend doesn't mind travelling i live in Reading and can tell yoou a few she can get them from, 1 of them gives them away free too and will cut to size if you ask but I usually have big bits anyway.
let me know if this is anygood....
