I went along with my parents to a lurcher show at the weekend, they were running a "family dog show" so I thought I would enter the boys for a laugh, Alf was first in "best pure bred" he got a first !!  Then I took my parents dog into best x bred and she went to give me a first but the steward pulled her back and they gave it to the dog behind and gave me a second then Fagan got a 2nd in his class - best large breed (obviously the same person wasnt allowed more than one 1st prize :rolleyes: ) anyway, Alf went on to win best in show - and it wasnt a sack of dog food we won - it was a meal for two at quite a nice pub down the road

Then the boys were allowed to participate in the lurcher racing they did better than most of the lurchers and nearly mugged the guy at the end for the lure, everyone commented on how good they were

Well done you :d  It does make me laugh at the antics that goes on at companionship shows where it seems that the person helping out is judging.  Especially when you get told later that they say that you're a top show person and that the dog was a foreign champion, which I'm not and she wasn't :d :d

BUT WELL DONE ON ALL YOUR PLACINGS !!!!

The amusing thing was the show had about 3 judges, I think the original judge knew someone in the puppy class so couldnt judge that, that person won puppy so she also couldnt judge BIS so a man, the steward and two kids did that :D :D

Hi golden girl, it wasnt local really, it was hambledon which is kind of past Alton towards Petersfield way.

Oh well done with all the boys!  And best in show too - well done!!

Hope you took Alf for the meal!

I havent been for the meal yet, saving that as a pulling strategy for a nice young man

Alf and Fagan have obviously picked up bad habits from those lurchers though, they went off and caught themselves a hare today (no one told them about the ban on hare coursing ) Alf carried it all the way home then laid in the garden in the poring down rain and ate the lot :rolleyes:
