I was going to add to the worming post for anyone that the shelf life of the Dronatal puppy is only 10 weeks after opening. So if you have a small breed and use about 10% of the bottle the rest has to go in the bin.
Panacur's shelf live is longer and can be used on both bitch and puppies.
There has been recent posts about reactions using Panacur. I personally have used both with no problem ( TOUCH wood 100 times)
hiya, have used drontal on my last litter, but it didnt work! so i used milbemax tablets which are great, one tablet per puppy, also can be bought for adult dogs too, no problems, wont be using liquid every again. much easier and more effective.
Contra-indications warnings etc Do not use the 'tablets for Small dogs and Puppies' in dogs of less than 2 weeks of age and/or weighing less than 0.5 kg Do not use the 'tablets for Dogs' in dogs weighing less than 5 kg. The margin of safety in Collies and related breeds is less than in other dogs. In these dogs the recommended dose should be strictly observed. The tolerance of MILBEMAX in young puppies from these breeds has not been investigated. Clinical signs in Collies are similar to those seen in the general dog population when overdosed. The product can be toxic to fish and aquatic organisms and should not come into water courses.
I've just read your link, as my vet uses it and I have used it for the past year, including about a month ago when my bitch went into season. I asked him if it was OK to use, as we were planning to mate her (and did) he said it was fine. Slightly worried now as the link also says 'The safety of the combination product has not been tested in pregnant or lactating dogs'.
It isnt actually only collies, including rough smooth and borders but also other herding breeds such as shelties and aussie shepherds This will give you more info.
