Hi

My whippet pup has been put on some anitibiotics and the vet says one of the side effects can be yellow teeth. She is only on them for a week and doesnt think they will be effected but it is a risk.

If I was to show her would yellow teeth go against her?

She is mostly a pet but if she turns out nice i would like to take her to the odd local show

Sorry, I can't see it myself, most colouring of teeth happens in utero and is usually an effect of the Dam/Mother taking anti-biotics...nowadays they avoid the anti-bitotics it used to be...senior moment and cannot remember the name of them for the life of me!!! Someone will come to my rescue in due course no doubt!! LOL I wouldn't worry...now I expect someone else will come on and tell me I'm totally wrong! :P

I could be that person :D
Says here, tetracycline can affect growing teeth, human anyway :) rarely with Augmentin, too, but that staining is only temporary.
Can't really answer your question Lumphy but I would expect if all things were equal with another dog it might swing it against you although I suppose it shouldn't if the teeth are all present, strong and clean.

Hi

Thanks it is oxycare she is on.

I know when I was a toddler I had antibiotics and they did stain my adult teeth even though they hadnt come through I think they were developing or something so I am assuming it is the same here.

She has two other types of anitbiotics for her kennel cough and now has a chest infection so the vet is wanting to use something stronger. The other choice would of effected her joints as they are for adults not pups.

This poor pup really has been through it and I still dont have her innoculated

Yes, that is tetracycline.  Poor little soul but I'm sure she is getting the very best of care :)
