The family is taking the dog for a week's holiday in Cornwall. We are staying in a cottage near Truro. Can anyone give us some recommendations on dog friendly venues, like beaches, pubs, days out ideas? Thank you so in advance.

The seal sanctuary at Gweek is VERY dog friendly....... It is a fabulous place if it is dry as there are large spaces to walk the dogs...... The seals were fab and the otters too.......

The manager noticed I had the dogs in the car and encouraged us to take all 4 in with us....... !!!!
Definitely worth a visit.....

Also, if you go on the Cornish Tourisrt board website, it will advise you of dog friendly beaches... :-) We went in November so it didn't matter which beaches we went on, as it was out of season.....

Just come back from cornwall & found that most pubs with gardens don't mind. Also there is a good fish & chip cafe at the Lizard where as long as the dog is well behaved, they don't mind you taking it in. We didn't go on any beaches, but on lots of walks along the coastal path. We were down ther to visit my 97 year old father in law in hospital & the hospital welcomed him in & said, could they keep him as a ward mascot! Never knew hospitals let in dogs before!

I have taken my dog into hospital to visit a very sick doggy friend who obviously missed hers.  Pat dogs of course visit hospitals etc.

Just got back from Cornwall and found the Newquay area to be very dog friendly.  All the beaches allowed dogs on in all areas and the pubs we visited allowed dogs in too. They even had a dog of their own in the bar.  Perhaps places are realising that alot of us take our dogs on holiday with us and they loose trade if we are excluded? I always take Inkie into clothes shops etc unless it actually says on the doorway that dogs are not allowed.  No one has ever said anything to me.  Have a lovely holiday, hope the weather stays fine for you.

My Mum lives in Cornwall (not far from Truro/Falmouth) and I have to say, Cornwall is one of the most dog-friendly counties I have visited, esp the pubs. Hope you have a great time and remember they can have all 4 seasons in one day in Cornwall ;)
