I have a Netgear wireless ADSL router and have had nothing but trouble with the thing :(  it's been replaced once as the first one never even worked  and I'm really fed up with it.  This one's only worked 3 times before giving up   If I can't get any joy after contacting the company I'll be looking for a different one.

Anyone got a wireless ADSL router, and which ones give least trouble??

Argh, Netgear......

we had a wired one of theirs.... after SIX HOURS on the phone to their tech support we took it back!!! Impossible.

For wired, we use D-Link and havent had a problem with that at all, OH is suggesting.....3Com, apparently.

I had a Belkin which worked well and was easy to set up but their power units don't last forever. It costs 10-20 punds for a new one. I have a Netgear now and it's been just fine.

Ours is a 3Com :) Had it for quite a few years now - OH's business was networking so, in theory, we should not have any problems ............ doesn't always work like that tho' :D :D

I wish we'd never bought the dratted thing :(   I've spent ages looking thru the Netgear website and apparently the only thing I can do is follow the manual and reset the device (and keep everything crossed  )  if that doesn't work I have to phone their people .   Thing is, I've never seen the manual, it's not available online, there was no manual in the box  and I can't find anything like a manual on the computer in the Netgear programmes   I'd take it back to ARGOS but we've had it for 2 months now, although have only used it 3 times owing to all the problems and this is the replacement one from ARGOS as the first one never even worked.

Feelng pretty peed off at the mo

Have you checked the installation CD? That's where my Netgear documentation is. I have a RangeMax DG834PN - if you had the same model I could send you one. You can also download manuals from the Netgear website in the support section.

Dont bother ringing them..... the call centre in Timbuctoo was flaming useless, the lady on the phone could NOT understand at all that we have three pc's on a network and the one that was having real problems connecting, was NOT one next to a phone and my OH was having to take info, run upstairs, try it, run back down, report back etc.... for H OURS...

I looked up the make and model and was fairly disgusted with what i read, that particular one (and isnt teh same as yours as ours was wired), had loads of known faults but Netgear didnt bother recalling them, or improving them, they just made a new model and left the old one on sale.

Hi
We have just bought a Netgear router and we also had nothing but trouble trying to get it working. My husband had to keep ringing up and found them most unhelpful when he asked for help in getting it installed. On a couple of ocassions he even had the phone put down on him:mad: when they got stuck themselves. In the end he asked to speak to the manager and really did make a complaint..and guess what after that we got all the help we needed and last its working. I definately wouldn't recommend someone buying one as their customer services is really lousy.
