Just wondering if anyone is a bit more technically-minded than me. The wireless connection is sooooo slow, it's driving me mad, far slower than dial-up even.  It's fine on the PC which is connected to the router with a LAN cable, but the laptop connection varies on any given day between being absolutely great and so slow I want to throw it out of the window in frustration.  Does anyone have any idea whether this is due to the ISP, the router or the laptop?  Sometimes it won't even connect at all, though at other times it is perfectly happy.  The router is a D-Link DSL-G604T and the provider is BT.

My 11 year old has that on his computer. Most of the time he feels like throwing it out of the wondow :( Mycomputer and router is in the bottom living rom. My sons wireless connection is 3 stories up in the attic,  My oartner can get wirless connection on his laptop perfectl;y fine in the living room as well.
I am on F2S so a different network.
So I would be very interested in the replies as well. :)
Lea :)
(sorry for replying with a problem as well but it looks as if we both have the same problem)

Mine isn't even always to do with the distance between the laptop and router.  At the moment I'm sitting right next to the router and it's still ridiculously slow

Out of interest to the computer buffs out there could the problemn of low connectivity be a problem with  dongle, dougle, what ever it is called/ the built in wireless connector??????????

OH in bed at mo but he knows a bit about wireless, so if you both still looking for answers will ask him in the morning and see what he says.

Just to give a bit more info - while it's being slow, the icon (when you let the cursor hover over it on the status bar) says that the signal is excellent and speed is 54mbps (believe me, it isn't)  And quite a few attempts at accessing various websites has resulted in the "website unavailable" message.  Think I will head to bed before I lose my rag and catch up with any replies in the morning (internet connection permitting).

Have you tried unplugging it from the mains and then plugging it in again (the router) ??
