Topic Dog Boards / General / Insurance again...

Just got my dog's renewal through the post a while ago and it seems that his premium has rocketed sky-high. I'm also not exactly happy with the insurance company we're with (Virgin Money) as they wouldn't allow me to tell them that he had been neutered and query the sudden uprise in premium as the policy was in the not in my name but in the name of my father. This confused me even more as I was the one who set up the policy and had made all the ammendments to it!

However, I've now had enough with Virgin Money, they don't cover conditions for more than 12months and I just want a change. I know alot of the hype on here was over M&S Insurance but I got a quote from them yesterday and they wanted £400 more per year than my quote from them last month due to them changing their details needed from owners.

I came across an insurance company called "Animal Friends" who seemed pretty good and covered conditions for longer than 12 months but I'd never heard of them before today. I was wondering if anyone could give me anymore details on this insurance company and if someone could point me in the direction of a few other good insurers?

I've been with More Than for a year now and they have been very good to us. My friend just got a puppy and she went with PetPlan. The quote they gave her was half of what I got last year (I have a GR and she has a boxer) so may be worth checking their current rates.

Does More Than cover condtions for more than 12 months?

And thanks for that info Val - I did look at E&L but considering the amounts of bad reports I decided better!

Yes they do on their for life policies but be warned they too hike
their premiums..based on dogs age and your post code etc...
My Boxers premiums are 22.99 & 23.99 (both policies are Pethealthcare
which was taken over by MoreThan) per month.
Other Boxer bitch who was insured with MoreThan once premium came up
for renewal after her 6th birthday jumped from £23 per month to £46 a month!!
Suffice to say we don't have her insured with them anymore...
My postcode is RG.

We have MoreThan cover & they have been excellent at paying for Molly's treatment, minor note though they won't pay for hydrotheraphy :(

are you sure you got that right about m&s insurance ? I insured Fagan with them about 4 months ago and added Alfie on this week and their premiums are the same - £9.64 per month.  Ive claimed already and they were reasonably quick at paying up - and no excess deducted so I get my full vets fee back !! I was paying £21 per dog with direct line with a £65 excess, a big difference considering the polices offer the same cover.

My parents are with E&L, they pay £60 per annum for their dog and havent had any problems claiming, she has been attacked twice and both times they have coughed up quite quickly.

Healthy pets underwriten by AXa seem to ahve been OK for the dog I own in partenrship.  They do ongoing conditiions and cover for life.
