Topic Other Boards / Foo / Horrible woman :(

Nipped to the co-op yesterday to buy a couple of things (forgot them on the first trip, shock horror...).

As I was perusing the tins aisle, there was a young woman at the end with her little boy, and a huge pram with the shopping basket on top.  I thin she was texsting someone, couldn't see properly tho.  Anyhoo, the little boy pushed the pram over backwards, obviously not intentional, shopping went everywhere - so his mum walked over and kicked his legs out from under him and he landed on his knees   I couldn't believe it!  I was too shocked to say anything.  Clearly he didn't mean to do what he did, but that's no excuse.  The poor little lad was so upset, and who can blame him?  She never said a word to him, not before she kicked him or after while she was picking up the shopping, she just ignored him while he was crying.  Next I saw them he was in the pram still crying, and she was still ignoring him.

Am I just too soft or is this just totally out of order?

How awful and what a sad indication of the lives some children have to live. Another thread suggested that people should have to take a test before becoming a dog owner but how many parents do you see who's children just never stand a chance

No you're not soft, it's totally out of order!

IMO regardless of one's views on punishment for children, it should never ever be doled out if the "bad" behaviour was an accident

I actually don't agree with physical punishment for children anyway, but this mother sounds nasty.

OMG!!! How can people treat any living thing like that. I remember seeing a little girl, about 7, left holding a bouncy GSD pup outside a shop. When Mum came out the pup bounded forward and jerked the lead out of the child's hand. Mum caught pup walked up to child shouted at her and smacked her hands!!!!!!!!!!!

It was herself she should have been chastising

I get fed up with Mothers wgho don't keep control over their children whilst out shopping etc, but this is just disgusting.  How on erath with this child learn anything when he receives punishment like this from his Mother.  The only thing he will learn is how to strike back. Sorry but some people should be sterilised. (Okay, may be an over the top opinion , but please!!!)

Hi

It can be so frustrating shopping with kids and they have accident making more work for mum. I know i have two of the little darlings. But even when they have driven me to dispare I have never laid a finger or foot on them. Makes you wonder what they do in the privacy of there own home when they are really bad.

Same as i wouldnt dream of taking a hand or foot to my dogs. No need for it

Disgraceful behaviour  How old/young was she just out of interest ?
- By Nikita [gb] Date 04.08.06 10:59 UTC
From the look of her I'd say not much older than me - maybe 25 if that.

Beggars belief   I've seen some shocking behaviour with parents towards toddlers in particular when in the supermarket :(   I had to report someone one day to security as a man took his little boy (hopefully HIS little boy) into the gents' loos and I could hear the child screaming, him shouting and "something" bouncing off the metal cubicles

It's terrifying that children are so often abused and when this is what happens in public places it doesn't bear thinking about what miserable little lives some children must have in their homes :( :( :(

Pray for them.

It really is no wonder some of them grow up the way they do. The thought of it is terribly depressing and upsetting.

I hope they get what they deserve in the next life.

OMG - I would've cried if I'd seen this.  What a disgusting excuse for a mother.

So shocking that any single person should behave like that towards a child, I am of the opinion that not enough of us grown ups remember that we are the grown ups and have to speak up for the children sometimes.
It takes a brave person to interfere and I dont know if I would have been able to speak up as I am not overly brave.....sometimes though we simply have to be 'grownup'  in order to protect the children and allow them to know some of us will help to protect them.

You DONT kick your kids, no matter how old they are or what they do for that matter!!

Disgusting!!

Oh that poor little boy, that is just disgusting. If she is prepared to do that in a public area, god knows how awfully she punishes him behind closed doors.
- By CherylS Date 04.08.06 12:18 UTC
Unfortunately she is teaching him how to behave.

I saw a woman in the grocery store this morning pushing her 3ish year old in his pram, the ones where the kids face you.He was lightly slapping the mum on her legs, dont know what for,you could see she was getting peeved off.She then stopped and started smacking the boy repeatedly on the arm, saying "Do NOT hit mummy" can anyone see the irony in this! I said as i walked past "you're smacking you're child for smacking YOU  "  I think she got my point! ;)
This annoys me just as much as the owner who has to call their dog 20 times to come back, and when the dog finally does come back they get a whack and told off for taking so long  When i see this i HAVE to stop and say something! What recourse do they have when told that they are telling their dog off for coming back to them? NONE! idiots!
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 06.08.06 12:17 UTC
I do the same as you and say that if someone was shouting you to come to them and all that they got at te end of it was a smack or a shouting at would you want to rush back :confused:  Some people :d
- By Nikita [gb] Date 07.08.06 10:21 UTC
I think that, when people are shouting angrily at their dogs to come back - would you want to run to someone who's obviously peeved at you?

When I hear people doing it to try and get their dogs to stop coming towards mine, I delight in using a happy, jolly voice and watching my dogs spin round and come running back :D
