my litter is a week old today. i have just seen one of the puppies have a pooh without any help from mum, the pooh was quite solid but am worried as everything i have read says they are unable to do this them selfs until they are about 3 weeks.

My breed don't read the books either and do things earlier than the books say, except open their eyes where I have had them as late as two weeks.

They also seem to be able to regulate body temperature pretty well by five days as it is at this stage that they move away from heat.

If the poo was more solid than toothpaste then I would check hydration and ensure Mum is drinking enough.

If you are giving complete soak it so much that it won't hold any more water, that way it will keep the liquid intake at it's maximum.
