In the red book it says that a judge must not have boarded an exhibit in previous 12 months....but what if the judge went & house sat for the exhibit whilst owner was away, within last 12 months???

I would say that's a No No I'm afraid Sam.

F(1)3.69(11)
Handled at a Show, boarded or prepared for exhibition within the previous 12 months by the scheduled Judge.................

So it's a moot point re pet/house sitting, I suppose at a push it could at a stretch be classed as prepared for exhibtion if they fed the dog

I would say that it is certainly against the spirit of the ruling.

I would say that although it doesn't say anything about your situation you could probs get away with it HOWEVER all it takes is one bitter person.....

I don't think it's Sam - I think it's a situations she's aware of.

no its not me:cool: just something that has arisen recently. chap telling world on his website that X has been house sitting their terriers, but then at a ch. show X judged & gave them a ticket......they rarely even get placed at any other show!!!!!  just wondered how legit that was!!!

Definite no, no. The rules say boarding, and that is literally boarding, albeit that it wasn't in his/her house.

I would think it is the same as boarding, only way to tell is if it gets reported to KC. Whatever the technicality I would personally think it unethical and would never consider doing it myself - some people though have very low ethics -sadly .
