Topic Dog Boards / General / Going to meet our new girl!! :D
- By Charanda [de] Date 24.07.06 08:51 UTC
We were homechecked sucessfully on Saturday and will be taking Glazby to meet his new pal on Friday with the hope of bringing her home with us if all goes well.

Abby is a bullmastiff who was found abandoned at a motorway service station.  :-(  She's been underweight but her rescue have said that she's been putting the weight back on well since they've had her.  She's been speyed and is ready for us to give her lots of love!!  :D

We are hoping that all will go well with their meeting - Glaz isn't too keen on males but so far we have had no problem with him meeting females so its fingers crossed to our new addition!!  :D

Fingers crossed for Friday :-)  I'm sure you won't need it though, our JJ is like that not that keen on males but females are fine.

Poor Abby it sounds as if she's been through an awful time, good on you for offering her a home and loads of love and happiness.

Not long to Friday either, if you don't count today really it's just 3 days :D

I just sent you looong pm (forgot she was a Bullmastiff and you had told me!! doh!!!)
Hope it helps, hearing our experience of first meeting... end of week 1 and my 2 are now stretched out in front of Aircon unit with their heads draped over each other, inseperable partners in crime now! ;) :D

(Storm has a paw print on his fore head now he's 'under the paw' ;) 'henpecked' like all the men in this house says my OH ;) )

Oh I hope and pray that they will really hit it off, and that Abby will at last have a loving home.  Best of Luck. :-)

Thanks everyone :D

HG - I got your email  :D  Very good advice in there (keep calm Hayley keep calm)!!  ;-)

I'm really excited - we are taking a half day on Friday and the plan is to take Glazby for a nice long walk (wear him out a bit) and then take him over to the lady's house who will have taken Abby in the night before.  They will then get to meet initially in adjoining pens and if that goes well then they'll be let in together and then if that goes well we should be allowed to take her home.

She looks like such a gorgeous girl and we are both really looking forward to her and Glazby becoming the best of pals!!  :D

She's coming today!!!!!!!!  :D  :D  :D  :D

I will admit to being slightly nervous (not a bad thing) - I'm sure everything will go okay and that Glazby will be a gentleman when meeting her.

I've got to make sure that he doesn't pick up on my nerves at all....

8 hours to go!!  :D  :D  :D

I've just seen pictures of Abby on another site and she looks gorgeous!

Thanks :D  She does look gorgeous and has the biggest tongue I've ever seen!!  :D

I will keep you all up to date with our progress from 1 dog household to 2 dog household and if anyone has any tips in making this work then that would be great!!  :-)

Good Luck H!!!
Grab yourself a copy of 'The Rescue Dog' By Gwen Bailey (its very good!!)...erm...like your gonna have time to read it!!?? he he, Busy 'New mum' ;) seriously though, very handy to have in your arsenal and this is a good article written by Gwen too.

after the initial sussing out they will probably get very Giddy on arriving back at home, so giving them 'Time outs' when they play will stop the play excalating to full on thuggery!! Glazby will be delighted to have a partner in crime!

Says me..who had a little Eurasier dragging a Husky round the Kitchen by the loose strap on his Harness this morning!! Storm just allowed her grinning like a buffoon!!??

you know where I am if you want to compare notes.. or share my 'Ribena' and pop corn when your shattered!!
Good Luck and Welcome to your forever home lucky little Abby :D xxxxxx
