i have always fed my big boys on raw, i am getting my spitz klein puppy soon and i was wondering how i would go about introducing him to raw feeding, just wondering if anyone has a small dog and how did they start off, chicken wings and tripe do i cut them really small and see how he gets on with them any advice please.

my next door neighbour has a spitz klein and he manages just fine with whole chicken wings, he was 11 weeks when she got him and he had been fed them by the breeder so don't know if you would need to adjust him if he isn't already used to raw ??

To be honest my girl (medium breed, not small) always has chicken wings for breakfast, she would always take a chicken wing into her pups from 6-8 weeks, I use to allow them to nibble and play with it and then remove, but with this last litter, mind wandered and I forgot  and the entire chicken wing was eaten.

From that day after feeding my bitch I would always give the weaning pups a chicken wing too, they would devour them, but I would always watch and then take the bigger bones away afterwards. (The thought of choking far too scary for me.)

Whether I will do the same with the next litter remains to be seen, but this last litter loved them.

Sooooo... finally get to your question, I would think your much older pup is quite capable of devouring a chicken wing, but would also be watchful of the bigger bones, pups have very sharp teeth, the tripe should not be a problem also, though I probably would cut that, and also the beef.

He probably won't eat them straight away, may play with them first and then eventually eat.
